IT26 LC WHAT KIND OF PEACE ARE YOU?
20 avr. 2026The aim of the activity was to promote awareness of peace education, active citizenship, and social responsibility through dialogue and reflection on contemporary global conflicts and humanitarian issues. Encourage students to develop communication, listening, interpretation, and critical thinking skills while analysing the role of education, solidarity, and civic engagement in promoting peace and mutual understanding. Foster empathy, respect for different perspectives, and sensitivity towards human rights issues, helping students understand how local communities, schools, and associations can actively contribute to building a culture of peace. Strengthen students’ ability to participate consciously in public debate and reflect on the importance of non-violence, cooperation, and democratic values in contemporary society.
Students attended the public meeting “E tu, di che PACE 6?”, held in the Aula Magna of IIS G. Romani and linked to Agenda 2030 Goal 4: Quality Education. The event, organised by the local ACLI association together with schools, associations, and institutions from the territory, aimed to reflect on the meaning of peace and on the initiatives promoted within the local community during the year 2025.
Through speeches, testimonies, and video projections, participants explored important themes related to war, peace, solidarity, and civic responsibility. Several local experiences were presented, including the participation of IIS Romani students in the Perugia–Assisi Peace March, peace letters written by primary school children, and awareness initiatives connected to the humanitarian situation in Gaza.
The event offered students the opportunity to listen to different perspectives, reflect on the educational value of peace initiatives, and understand how communities, schools, and associations can work together to promote dialogue, inclusion, and non-violence.
The activity strengthened students’ awareness of social and global issues connected to peace, conflict, and human rights. Students developed listening, reflection, and communication skills while gaining a deeper understanding of the importance of civic engagement and collective responsibility. The meeting encouraged empathy, critical thinking, and active participation, reinforcing the idea that education and dialogue are essential tools for building a more peaceful and inclusive society.
