IT26 PSLLC-RESISTANCE : EXPOSITION GAZA CHILDREN DRAWINGS

On Saturday 6TH December in the morning at 10:00 AM, the exhibition "The Voices of the Children of Gaza" was inaugurated at the meeting space of Romani school, organized in collaboration with the GIT of Banca Etica.

As part of the "Educating for Peace" project, the school promoted the event in collaboration with the IC Diotti, specifically involving 4th and 5th-grade primary school students from Vicobellignano. Inspired by the 26 drawings on display, these young students wrote letters and reflections addressed to the children of Gaza, which were exhibited alongside the artwork. The event was attended by a large audience of parents and teachers. After thanking the local authorities and representatives in attendance, the School Principal presented the exhibition, which consists of 26 drawings created by children in the Gaza Strip aged 6 to 12, currently displaced in the Deir Al Balah camp.

The Principal emphasized that the event was strongly supported by both students and teachers to express solidarity with a people who have been caught in a conflict for 76 years—a conflict she described as having transformed into genocide. Professor Sara Pisani, the coordinator of the "Educating for Peace" project, further explained Banca Etica's objectives in supporting the Palestinian people. The primary school students from Vicobellignano, accompanied by their teachers, expressed their desire for peace through simple and direct messages. Quoting Gianni Rodari in unison, they declared:"There are things you should never do, neither by day nor by night, neither by sea nor by land: for example, war". The event featured special guest Giuditta Brattini, a volunteer aid worker who has spent 20 years in the Gaza Strip working on healthcare and rehabilitation projects for wounded children and adolescents. Brattini shared harrowing insights into the daily reality of the region, noting:

"In Gaza, you walk with death by your side".

"When the bombings start, children and women are often targets because they represent the future".

"The resistance of the Palestinian civilian population tells us that they believe in their self-determination and the right of a people to have a land".

Following the inauguration, Brattini spoke with students from several classes at the Romani Institute. In profound silence, the students listened as she recounted the history of the Gaza Strip through powerful images and courageous testimonies. She highlighted the daily resilience of the Palestinian people, stating that they constantly reorganize themselves to live and remain on their land despite the occupation and immense suffering.

After the conference in the Great Hall, Brattini also sat for an interview with RR21, the Romani Institute's web radio station.
