Attendance Awareness Week
13 mars 2026ttendance Awareness Week at CCBS was a great success, with a strong focus on promoting positive attendance and highlighting the importance of being present in school every day. The week also helped raise awareness of recent findings from the ESRI, which show that school absence can have a significant impact on a student’s future. According to the study, longer periods of absence at age 13 are linked to lower educational qualifications, reduced chances of progressing to higher education, and lower likelihood of achieving a degree by the age of 25. The report also found that poor attendance can negatively affect wellbeing in early adulthood.
To encourage and reward good attendance, every student who attended school each day this week received a raffle ticket during tutor time and was entered into a special prize draw. Students were enthusiastic throughout the week, with many looking forward to Friday’s draw and the chance to win a prize for their year group.
The Attendance Awareness Week draw took place on Friday morning and created great excitement across the school. Head Student Róise Conlon had the honour of drawing the winning names in front of students and staff. Congratulations to all of the winners and well done to every student who made the effort to attend school each day during the week.
