First, the students were informed about the tasks and divided into groups according to tasks.
In the chemistry lesson, one group of students used the internet to find out the chemical composition of the gold, silver and bronze medal. Another group also found out that this year’s Olympic medals kept breaking because of various compositions of different parts of the medals for safety reasons. They also found out the place of production of the medals.
Later, in the Art and ICT lessons, the students designed their own medals using the specialised software. With the help of the ICT teacher, they printed out their medals on a 3D printer.
Afterwards, the students created a big poster, which included all the information they learned, as well as the illustrations of their created medal designs.
The students cooperated in the activity, looked up the information how and where the medals for individual Olympic Games are produced. Then, they design "their medals" in lessons of Chemistry, Art and ICT.
