IT26 DC WORKSHOP: Olympic values in action

The activity was designed to introduce and explore the Olympic values of Engage, Share, and Respect through guided discussion, multimedia resources, and collaborative work. It began with a warm-up Think–Pair–Share activity, during which students reflected on the importance of these values in their daily lives and within the Erasmus experience. The teacher then presented an overview of the three Olympic values, explaining their key meanings and concepts. This was followed by the viewing of the IOC video “Living the Olympic Values”, which helped students identify concrete examples of the values in real sporting contexts and encouraged pair and class discussion. In the second part of the lesson, students worked in pairs to create a short digital presentation using Canva. Each pair was assigned one Olympic value and asked to connect it to real sports moments and to their Erasmus experience, with the teacher providing guidance and support. The activity concluded with a final reflection, allowing students to express how they can apply Olympic values in everyday life and in their school community.

The activity strengthened students’ communication, collaboration, and digital skills through research, discussion, and the creation of multimedia content. Working in mixed-nationality pairs encouraged respectful cooperation, negotiation of meaning, and adaptation of communication strategies. The final digital presentations demonstrated a strong understanding of Olympic values as universal and shared principles, with particular attention to respect and fairness as foundations for positive interaction. Students also developed greater intercultural awareness and confidence in expressing complex ideas through language and visual design, contributing to an inclusive and reflective learning environment.
