IT26 CAEC MILANO WALKING TOUR BEFORE MILANO-CORTINA PARALYMPIC GAMES 2026

On the first day of the Congress Week, the Erasmus+ group arrived in Milan for a short walking tour of the historic city centre before attending the Paralympic hockey match at the Santa Giulia Arena. Starting from the area around the Castello Sforzesco, one of Milan’s most important Renaissance landmarks and a symbol of the city’s historical power, students walked through the surrounding streets and green areas that connect the castle to the heart of the city.

The group then continued towards Piazza del Duomo, passing through lively streets and commercial areas that reflect Milan’s role as a dynamic European metropolis where history and modern life coexist. In Piazza del Duomo, students had the opportunity to admire the famous cathedral, one of the most iconic Gothic monuments in Italy. After a group photo in the square, students enjoyed about one hour of free time and a packed lunch, before returning to the Castello Sforzesco to meet the bus and continue the programme of the day.

The activity promoted CAEC skills and strengthened students’ awareness of European cultural heritage, and their ability to observe and appreciate historical landmarks in an urban context. Students demonstrated curiosity and respectful behaviour towards the cultural environment, while informal interaction during the walk encouraged communication and group cohesion. The experience contributed to developing cultural sensitivity, reinforcing the importance of respecting and preserving historical heritage as a shared European value.
