IT26 MLC Bijou Museum and Workshop on creative fashion jewellery

The Erasmus+ students attending the Congress and their Italian host partners visited the local museum dedicated to the historic production of fashion jewellery in Casalmaggiore. The museum presents the rich heritage of the town’s bijou manufacturing industry, which played an important role in the social and economic development of the local community throughout the twentieth century.

During the visit, students explored collections of jewellery and accessories that reflect the changing styles and fashions of different decades, gaining insight into how design, craftsmanship, and cultural trends evolved over time. The exhibition also highlighted the importance of this manufacturing activity in shaping the identity and working life of the Casalmaggiore area.

After the guided visit, students took part in a creative workshop in which they designed and produced their own small pieces of jewellery using simple materials such as copper wire, beads, and metal components. Guided by their creativity and imagination, students first sketched their ideas and then crafted their objects, which they could keep as souvenirs of the experience.

The activity encouraged creativity, manual skills, and collaborative participation among students. Working together at the workshop tables created a joyful and relaxed atmosphere, where each participant contributed ideas, personality, and artistic inspiration. The experience strengthened intercultural interaction and team building while fostering appreciation for local heritage and craftsmanship. Students also gained confidence in expressing themselves creatively and engaging actively in a shared cultural activity.
