The Erasmus group was welcomed by the city authorities of Brescia inside the Renaissance Palazzo della Loggia, the historic building that houses the Mayor’s office and the Municipal Council chamber. Here, Roberto Rossini, the current President of the Municipal Council, explained how a council meeting is conducted, inviting students to take the seats of the Mayor, the President of the Council, and the councillors of both the majority and the opposition. Students used the microphones and experienced what it means to sit and express their opinions in an institutional setting, taking part in a simulated council proposal. This activity highlighted the importance of respecting democratic rules and engaging in constructive institutional dialogue. The visit then continued through the other impressive rooms of Palazzo della Loggia, which also house numerous paintings and works of art. Through the architectural features and artistic heritage of the building, the guide illustrated the history of the city, underlining its strong links with Venice and European history. Throughout the visit, students were actively encouraged to ask questions and reflect on themes related to democracy, institutions, and civic responsibility.

Students gained practical experience in democratic procedures and active participation in civic life through the council simulation. They developed critical thinking, learned to respect institutional rules, and practiced constructive dialogue and argumentation. The activity strengthened awareness of local history, cultural heritage, and the role of public institutions, while encouraging responsible engagement in community and civic activities. .
