Irish Immersion
12 nov. 2024This group of second years had a party to celebrate their excellent work and efforts in Irish lessons so far this year. The prupose of this lesson was to reward students for their excellent work and behaviour.
Furthermore, lessons like these help to promote the Irish language within student lives as it demonstrates ways to use and speak the language outside of a school or classroom setting. Making the language real is a key part of generating student engagement and interest in their heritage.
During this lesson students were provided with treats which they could enjoy while speaking to each other in Irish. They were also given the opportunity to play Irish games and watch a short film as Gaeilge.
Overall, the students said they thoroughly enjoyed today’s lesson and that it made them appreciate their native language more. It helped foster positive memories when it came to the Irish language.
