IR24 MSTE ENGAGE Rougey Cliff Walk
11 nov. 2024The Rougey Cliff Walk in Bundoran, County Donegal, offers a stunning 4km trail with breathtaking views of the Atlantic Ocean. Along our walk teachers and students got a view of the Thrupenny Pool, this is an open water swimming pool, which is around 5 feet deep. We passed the Fairy Bridges, these are features of coastal erosion known as natural sea arches. They were one of Bundoran’s original tourist attractions and are steeped in local legend. We passed by two beaches, features of coastal deposition. Tullan Strand: This beautiful beach offers expansive views and is a popular spot for surfers as it is famous worldwide for its waves. The second beach, Bundoran Beach, offers visitors the opportunity to jump from the diving board and swim in its clear blue waters. The walk offered the perfect way to experience the natural beauty of the Irish coastline in the week of beautiful sunshine.
Participants developed a greater understanding of coastal geography and natural features, such as sea arches and beach formations, leading to increased environmental appreciation and awareness.
Improved Physical Health: The 4km walk provided a valuable opportunity for physical exercise, contributing to participants’ overall fitness and well-being while enjoying the beautiful scenery.
Strengthened Social Connections: The shared experience of exploring the Rougey Cliff Walk fostered teamwork and social interaction among teachers and students, enhancing relationships and creating lasting memories together.
