CC - Peer Education Programme
22 avr. 2024Over the last month, students from three of our 5th Year classes have taken part in a Peer Mentoring Programme run by Jigsaw, an Irish mental health organisation who focus on improving the mental health of young people in particular. They received their certificates as a result of completing Jigsaw’s One Good School Peer Education Programme.
Over the past few weeks staff have been aiding students to present a PowerPoint to Junior Cycle students on ‘Let’s Talk Change’ focused on supporting young people to understand and mind their mental health, particularly in times of change. Having this delivered by peers made the content more relatable and took away some of the negative stigma associated with mental health issues.
Students received great feedback on how they presented the ‘Let’s Talk Change’ PowerPoint, alongside showcasing great leadership skills to Junior Cycle students. It really helped develop the confidence in the students who delivered the content also. Their resilience, when facing a challenging situation, was certainly improved by the process.
