IT26 CC Bijou Museum visit and craft workshop
31 janv. 2026The visit allowed students to learn about the history and evolution of jewellery and decorative objects produced by Casalmaggiore factories from the late nineteenth century to the 1970s.
In the first part of the visit, students explored the permanent exhibition, which includes various types of costume jewellery and accessories such as brooches, bracelets, earrings, belts, cufflinks, pendants, as well as powder cases, cigarette cases, sunglasses, medals, and badges. The exhibition is further enriched by original machinery, work tools, catalogues, documents, and historical photographs, offering a meaningful insight into the industrial district of Casalmaggiore.
In the second part of the activity, the class took part in a workshop focused on the early creative stages of jewellery design. Inspired by the museum collection, students first developed a personal design for a bijou on paper. They then created the object using low-cost materials, reflecting on the traditional materials of local production and encouraging individual creativity.
The activity helped develop creative, manual, and design skills, while also promoting collaboration among students and increasing awareness of the local cultural and productive heritage.
