PSLLC - PERSEVERANCE – FILM “THE CUTTING EDGE”

Students watched the 1992 film “The Cutting Edge,” which tells the story of two athletes from very different backgrounds who must learn to work together in pairs figure skating to reach their goals. The film highlights important themes such as perseverance, teamwork, resilience, and overcoming personal challenges.
Through watching the film, students were exposed to the value of persistence and cooperation as key factors in achieving success. The activity aimed to inspire students by showing real examples of dedication and mutual support in a sports context, encouraging them to reflect on these values in their own lives and experiences. They reflected on the obstacles the athletes faced and about how these challenges relate to their own lives.
This activity aimed to deepen students’ understanding of the value of persistence and mutual support both in sports and daily life.
The activity helped students gain a clearer understanding of perseverance as a key element for success and personal development.Through reflection, students improved their PSLLC skills such as motivation, critical thinking, cooperation, and self-awareness.The shared viewing experience also promoted empathy and intercultural dialogue, as students connected the story to their own challenges and cultural backgrounds.Overall, the film provided a rich learning environment that encouraged teamwork, resilience, and a positive attitude towards facing difficulties in both sports and daily life
