CAEC - IDENTITY – LOCAL DANCES
30 juin 2025During the Erasmus+ hosting week, Italian students and their peers were divided into two main groups for a dance exchange workshop. Each group took turns learning and teaching dances from their own cultural backgrounds. Italian students introduced local traditional dances from the region, explaining their origins and typical occasions for performance.
The visiting students then shared dances from their own cultural traditions—ranging from folk steps to contemporary group dances—transforming the session into an interactive and joyful celebration of movement and identity. Students learned not only the steps, but also the stories and values behind the dances.
The atmosphere was inclusive and lively, with music, laughter, and physical engagement creating a strong group dynamic. The exchange promoted intercultural understanding and highlighted the universality of dance as a non-verbal language that can be used to overcome differences and express shared joy.
Aims and skills targeted :Develop Cultural Awareness and Expression Competence (CAEC) by engaging students in shared artistic experiences rooted in movement and tradition. Encourage students to recognise and express the cultural value of dance as a form of identity and communication. Promote openness to diversity and mutual learning through active participation in traditional and contemporary dances. Enable students to explore the role of the arts in building social connections and expressing both individual and collective identity. Reinforce the Olympic value of Identity by creating a space where cultural exchange happens through rhythm, creativity, and movement.
