The aim was to teach the simplified rules (in the gym, no skates) of Unihockey game to all the partner´s students.
Description – theese simplified rules ensured that the game was safe and enjoyable for all players.
1. Team
- Each team consists of 6 players: 1 goalkeeper and 5 field players. Substitutions are allowed anytime during the game.
2. Playing Area
- The game is played on a flat, rectangular field (recommended size: 40m x 20m). Goals are placed at both ends of the field.
3. Game Duration
- The game consists of 3 periods, each lasting 15 minutes. There is a 5-minute break between periods. We played 15 min.
4. Start of the Game
- A face-off starts the game at the center of the field. After each goal, play resumes with a face-off at the center.
5. Scoring
- A goal is scored when the ball fully crosses the goal line. Goals are not valid if scored by hand or arm.
6. Gameplay Rules
- Players may only use their sticks to play the ball. Kicking the ball is allowed but not directly into the goal. High sticks (above waist level) are not allowed. Players cannot touch the ball with their hands (except the goalkeeper within the goal area). Physical contact is minimal; no pushing, tripping, or hitting with the stick.
7. Goalkeeper Rules
- The goalkeeper may use their hands, feet, or stick to block the ball within the goal area. They cannot leave the goal area while holding the ball.
8. Penalties
- Minor infractions (e.g., high stick or improper substitution): Free hit for the opposing team. Serious infractions (e.g., rough play): 2-minute penalty, during which the penalized team plays with one fewer player.
9. Free Hits
- Awarded for minor infractions. Opponents must be at least 3 meters away during the free hit.
10. Fair Play
- Players must respect opponents, teammates, referees, and the rules of the game. Unsportsmanlike behavior may result in a warning, penalty, or ejection from the game.
