2nd year students of French, while working on the theme of “la famille – the family”, had the opportunity to discover famous landmarks in Paris in a comprehension exercise (below). They discussed each building/monument, its history and importance and how some (e.g. the glass pyramids at the Louvre) divided opinion in France.

Students then undertook a poster project. They had to use school laptops to research four other Paris landmarks and write two lines in French about each. Learning intentions and success criteria were recorded in their digital teams. The students worked individually and presented one of their landmarks to the class. They displayed their finished posters in the classroom.

This activity celebrates differences in opinions, culture and architecture.
