07 juil. 2024An educational area is a small natural territory managed in a participatory manner by the students of a school, middle school or high school. Supervised by their teachers and an environmental education structure, the students meet in the form of a “children’s council” and make all decisions concerning their educational area.
For two years, cycle 3 students have been involved in an educational area project. They work with the Titié association, manager of the two Désirade nature reserves. They discovered and protected a saltworks near the college. They started by going into the field with an ornithologist, a botanist and an entomologist. They identified the administrative situation of the area and wrote to the mayor to present their project. They also spent a day with students from Saint Francis who work in a marine area. it was an opportunity to share their experiences together
They worked on skills: such as confronting their judgments with those of others in a reasoned and settled discussion or debate Differentiate your particular interest from the general interest and have a sense of the general interest.
