To discuss on bullying and cyberbullying and finding a way to prevent dangerous behaviors, in collaboration with the local  public library, it was decided to develop a reading program with students.

Books offer materials suitable for reflection and analysis, allowing readers to exercise decision-making and problem-solving. The power of literary texts to make readers experience emotions, to present different situations and behaviors to them and even to get them to face their fears and concerns, makes reading a privileged instrument for bullying and cyberbullying prevention. Literary texts may contribute to moral education of readers and at the same time  books can help teachers, parents, and practitioners dealing with bullying and cyberbullying experiences.

The aims of the activities were:

Reduce existing direct and indirect bullying problems among young people in and outside of school

Prevent the development of new bullying problems;

Create a friendly and positive social climate at school so that students, in particular bullies, interacted and functioned better at and outside of school.

The anti-bullying program was divided into two main parts:

  • First the students chose and read two-three books dealing with bullying and cyberbullying problems and discussed together on the topics
  • After reading they were divided into groups, they chose their favourite book and guided by a techer they realized book trailers

All this was followed by a discussion session with the author of one of the books.
