IR24 MC- Fairplay, Joy, Inclusion - Céad Míle Fáilte
07 mai 2024The Erasmus + Project commenced with a warm welcome extended to the visiting French and Slovakian students and teachers. The welcoming committee, consisting of members of our Student Council, guided the visitors through a comprehensive tour of our school premises. Teachers graciously opened their classroom doors, inviting the visiting groups to explore and inquire about various aspects of the academic environment.
Following the school tour, participants proceeded to the sports hall, where the Physical Education (PE) department and Transition Year (TY) students had prepared a series of bonding games and exercises. These activities were specifically designed to break the ice and initiate a fun and enjoyable experience for all involved. Among the activities organized were:
Team Bonding Session:
Ice Breaker: Line-up games in four groups to encourage interaction and communication.
Communication Games: Activities involving ordering by height or age to promote teamwork and collaboration.
The Floor is Lava: Teams were tasked with moving their entire group over a distance of 20 meters using only two blue gym mats. Falling off the mats required teams to restart from the beginning, adding an element of challenge and teamwork.
Rock Paper Scissor Race: Participants engaged in a race where they jumped through hoops and challenged opponents with rock-paper-scissors. Winners advanced while losers returned to the end of their respective lines, encouraging friendly competition and sportsmanship.
Line Dancing/Siege of Ennis Dance: Transition Year students showcased line dancing, including the Siege of Ennis dance, providing a lively demonstration of cultural exchange through movement and music.
The activitiy successfully achieved its objectives, as evidenced by the enthusiastic participation and positive feedback from both French, Slovakian, and host students and teachers. The guided tour offered insights into the educational system and facilities, fostering appreciation and understanding among the visitors. The bonding games and exercises facilitated interactions, breaking down barriers and creating a sense of camaraderie among the diverse groups. Moreover, the cultural exchange through activities such as line dancing enhanced mutual respect and appreciation for each other's traditions and customs.
Impacts: Participants developed interpersonal skills, cross-cultural understanding, and a sense of global citizenship. The positive memories and friendships forged during the project are likely to endure, contributing to a more interconnected and harmonious global community.
