IT24 CAE - HERITAGE – HISTORICAL WORKSHOPS

Aims and skills targeted :Discovering the local culture and heritage, foster a shared sense of identity. Delving into local history and traditions and participating in historical reenactments like flag waving, medieval dances, and drum playing. Skills: ability to express and interpret figurative and abstract ideas, experiences and emotions with empathy, capacity to identify and actualize opportunities for personal and social enrichment through engagement with the arts and cultural expressions, ability to engage in creative processes, both individually and collaboratively.

The students were  divided into various groups and, under the expert guidance of members from local historical groups, they acquired different skills to recreate a Medieval show and parade. This showcase would  be presented during a special re-enactment event at Torrechiara Castle, a historical site in the province of Parma. They learnt various dances, practiced flag-waving, and played  drums, all in connection to the regional traditions. The following day, they would put their learned skills into action while wearing Medieval costumes, set against the backdrop of the Torrechiara Castle.

Participation in these activities allows students to feel integrated into the local community while learning about the past history and traditions of the region of Casalmaggiore. Moreover, students from diverse backgrounds share their own heritage through music and dances.

Results : Foster interest in historical and cultural heritage, prompting students to reflect upon, investigate, disseminate, and share it. Acquisition of new skills through motivating and meaningful learning experiences within the local context. Development of teamwork and ability to collaborate in multidisciplinary groups.
