IT26 CAE Heritage Sharing Slovak heritage

The workshop station was decorated in the colours of the Slovak flag, creating an authentic cultural atmosphere. The girls who presented the workshop were dressed in traditional Slovak folk costumes, allowing participants to see what Slovak kroje look like in real life.

The workshop was divided into two main parts.

PART 1: Game (kahoot)) to discover Slovak culture and facts

It all began with an interactive Kahoot quiz focused on Slovakia. Participants answered various questions about Slovak facts, culture, and general knowledge. Winners of the quiz were also rewarded with small prizes. Each question was followed by a short presentation introducing some of Slovakia’s natural attractions and points of interest. Participants had the opportunity to enjoy a tasting session of traditional Slovak food and drink. 

PART 2: Dance

The second part of the workshop focused on traditional Slovak dance. First, the girls performed a folk dance featuring the traditional “bottle dance,” which is characteristic of Slovak folklore. Afterwards, the audience was invited to try and replicate the dance steps, creating an engaging and interactive cultural experience.

The workshop successfully increased participants’ awareness of Slovak culture, traditions, and national identity. Students improved their knowledge of Slovakia in an engaging and enjoyable way. The tasting session allowed participants to experience traditional Slovak food and drinks, which contributed to a deeper cultural appreciation.

The workshop also supported intercultural learning and interaction between participants. The traditional dance activity created a highly engaging and participatory atmosphere, encouraging teamwork, movement, and cultural exchange.
