CAEC - HERITAGE – DAY TRIP TO MILAN

The Erasmus+ students, together with their Italian hosts, took part in a full-day educational trip to Milan. The itinerary included a guided walking tour of the city’s historic centre, with visits to symbolic landmarks such as the Duomo, Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, Teatro della Scala and Castello Sforzesco. Students explored the artistic and architectural richness of Milan while learning about its historical and cultural importance within Italy and Europe.Time was also dedicated to appreciating contemporary aspects of the city, such as food culture, design and fashion, and observing the contrasts between tradition and innovation. The group reflected on how cities like Milan preserve cultural heritage while remaining dynamic and modern.Throughout the day, moments were planned for intercultural exchange and informal discussion among students, supported by accompanying teachers who guided reflection and posed questions to deepen understanding. The activity was linked to the Olympic value Heritage / Respect, highlighting the importance of cultural memory, identity, and the responsibility to protect and value shared heritage.

Aims and skills targeted : Encourage the discovery and appreciation of Italian and European cultural heritage. Strengthen Cultural Awareness and Expression Competence (CAEC) by exposing students to art, architecture, and historical landmarks. Promote respect for cultural diversity and shared European identity. Support observation and interpretation skills. Foster curiosity, openness, and reflection on cultural experiences. Enhance communication and interaction in a multicultural group. Encourage teamwork, responsible behaviour in public spaces, and intercultural dialogue.
