This week, the Green School Committee was proud to welcome Ivan O’Mahoney —former teacher and now a professional horticulturalist with Ginkgo Garden Design—back to our school. In collaboration with freetrees.ie, Ivan made a generous and impactful donation:

  • 1 Oak tree

  • 1 Eucalyptus Regan tree

  • 3 Alder trees

  • 100 Hornbeam trees

  • Compost and bark

  • His time, knowledge, and dedication

This act of giving was not just a contribution to our campus—it was a gesture of environmental justice. Trees are powerful symbols of equality across generations. By planting them, we are taking responsibility for restoring balance to our ecosystems, combating climate change, and creating a healthier world for future generations.

The TY year group spent the morning planting trees and hedging, gaining hands-on experience in sustainable land care. This effort enhances the beauty of our surroundings while actively reducing the school’s carbon footprint, aligning with our values of climate action and fairness to the planet .We are deeply grateful to Ivan and freetrees.ie for reminding us that justice can take root—one tree at a time.
