GR25 PSLLC - ENGAGE - Taekwondo & Gymnastics

Taekwondo is a Korean martial art that combines combat and self-defense techniques with sport and exercise. It is known for its high, fast kicks and dynamic movements, emphasizing agility, flexibility, and precision. Taekwondo became an official Olympic sport in 2000.

Students gathered at the athletic center “GAIA” of Alimos for an introductory Taekwondo lesson. A professional instructor welcomed the participants and introduced them to the fundamental techniques of the sport, including basic stances and self-defense moves. Emphasis was given to the values of respect, discipline, and perseverance that are central to Taekwondo practice.

Students engaged in interactive exercises and drills designed to improve their reflexes and coordination. They had the opportunity to practice simple movements and experience firsthand the discipline and focus required in martial arts.

The session ended with stretching and a brief reflection on the benefits of Taekwondo, encouraging students to incorporate physical activity and mindfulness into their daily lives.

Students socialized and collaborated with peers from other countries, having a shared learning experience. The non-competitive nature of the activity allowed them to engage freely and enjoy the process without pressure. They developed balance, coordination, and critical thinking while gaining an appreciation for martial arts and self-discipline.

The event was a great success, as students had fun while learning new skills in a supportive and inclusive environment.
