GR25 PSLLC - SHARE - Educational Workshop with clay
21 févr. 2025Clay art is one of the oldest forms of artistic expression, with a history that spans across European civilizations and cultures. It provides an excellent medium for creativity and learning, allowing participants to shape their ideas into tangible forms.
During the Erasmus+ school mobility, students and teachers visited the “Pylos Laboratory,” a local educational workshop in Alimos, renowned for promoting traditional clay art. The participants were introduced to the basic techniques of working with clay, including molding, shaping, and creating textures.
Under the guidance of professional instructors and ceramic manufacturers, students explored their creativity by designing and crafting small clay objects such as pots, figurines, and decorative items. The activity also included an introduction to the cultural significance of pottery in ancient Greece, highlighting the role of clay art in history and daily life.
Students worked in mixed teams, fostering cross-cultural interaction and teamwork. The workshop encouraged them to share ideas, collaborate on designs, and assist each other during the process. At the end of the session, students were thrilled to see their creations take shape and eagerly awaited their pieces to be fired and preserved.
The activity successfully brought students from different countries together, helping them build friendships and enhance their communication skills through a shared creative experience. They developed contruction skills, they managed to express their sensitivity, while gaining appreciation for traditional craftsmanship. The workshop was a resounding success, and students left inspired by the creative possibilities of clay art and the cultural connections they had made.
