The activity, held once a week in the sports centre, is addressed to students with disabilities to show  how sport can go beyond differences

The aim is to become more sensitive about disabled people’s needs, to practice sport with disabled people, to understand that sport is  means of inclusion

Sports are often used as a tool to empower youth, giving them important life skills such as teamwork, leadership, and confidence. This activity can empower the individual students by demonstrating that with minimal accommodations, they too, can participate in sporting activities. In collaboration with the Baslenga sports centre staff, sporting activities were selected and adjustments to accommodate for students’ disabilities were made. Students at the school were engaged in numerous sports.

This activity was very successful and impactful because  it challenged the idea that students with disabilities can not participate in sporting activities. By the end of the school term, students expressed their gratitude for planning the activities and most importantly felt empowered.
