IT24 CAE - HERITAGE – BOLOGNA: VISIT OF THE CITY CENTRE
01 avr. 2024On 12th March 2024 the students visited Bologna in the afternoon. wherethey enjoyed a tour and discovered its rich architecture. They had the opportunity to walk under centuries-old porticoes, which became a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2021, and they could get a glimpse at the city's diverse historical influences, from Ancient Roman statues to numerous Christian churches. They strolled through narrow streets, and bustling piazzas admiring the red and orange-colored facades. Bologna is a city located in the Emilia- Romagna region, in the north of Italy. Known for its rich history, culture, and cuisine, Bologna offers a blend of medieval atmosphere and modern vitality. The students from the hosting country prepared a presentation and brochure highlighting the main attractions and historical buildings surrounding the square. In addition to landmarks such as ancient palaces, the Cathedral, iconic towers, and statues, the tour includes stops at typical small shops and gelato places. Bologna's renowned food culture was showcased through opportunities for foreign students to taste typical food from both Bologna and Italy. This immersive experience allowed students to learn about the city's rich history while also trying its culinary delights, promoting cultural exchange and appreciation. The students enhanced their historical awareness of Italian artistic expression and heritage. They learnt to recognize and appreciate cultural diversity, thus fostering tolerance and respect for different ways of life. Additionally, they had the opportunity to think critically about the significance and context of what they observe in an unfamiliar city environment. Through activities like reading maps and following directions, they improved their sense of direction and space orientation. Moreover, appreciating the architectural heritage and natural beauty of the old city center created a sense of responsibility for its preservation and conservation.
