They promote the creation of safe circles where communication becomes an efficient tool again bullying.
During the lecture the students were told about the life skills training program which takes place in lots of Italian schools to prevent the abuse of substances. The Life Skills Training programme (LST) is a three-year classroom-based universal middle-school prevention programme. It aims to reduce the long-term risk of the use/abuse of alcohol, tobacco and drugs. The life skills curriculum targets social and intrapersonal factors by providing the knowledge, attitudes, and self-management skills necessary to actively resist social influence to engage in substance use, reduce susceptibility to negative influence, increase resilience and drug awareness, and decrease motivation to engage in substance use.
Students were shown short videos and presentations to make them aware of the dangers of bullying and cyberbullying and were asked to identify the main aspects of bullying: the roles, the actions, the way and the type of bullying.
Some of them were called to share their feeling and their thoughts about bullying and the importance of respect. The activity was held according to the peer education methodology and it was aimed to reveal the life skills we need to face everyday life: problem solving, effective communication, empathy, self awareness, coping with emotions and with stress.
