FRG26 Engage performance discover the CREPS
02 mai 2026The visit to the CREPS Antilles-Guyane (Regional Center for Sports and Physical Education) allowed students to discover a place deeply rooted in Guadeloupe, dedicated to training, high-level sport, and the values of Olympism. A key player in the region's sporting development, the CREPS has been supporting the success and emergence of Guadeloupean champions in various disciplines for many years. Through this educational outing, the students gained a better understanding of the athletes' journey, the importance of training, and the professions related to sport and athlete support. They also discovered that young athletes can balance their academic life and their sporting careers thanks to tailored support that allows them to pursue their studies while benefiting from high-level training. During the visit, the students explored several of the center's sports facilities: the fencing hall, the weightlifting and bodybuilding room, the rugby and soccer fields, and the swimming pool. These different spaces allowed them to observe the training conditions of athletes and to better understand the specific requirements of each discipline. The students also viewed displays and portraits of great Guadeloupean Olympic champions, such as Laura Flessel and Marie-José Pérec, who have left their mark on the history of French and international sport. This highlighting of local athletes helped the students realize that Guadeloupe possesses a rich sporting heritage and that the CREPS (Regional Center for Sports and Physical Education) plays an important role in supporting numerous talented individuals. Discussions with professionals and athletes present at the site provided an opportunity to discuss the concepts of effort, perseverance, respect, and teamwork. This immersive experience also raised the students' awareness of the importance of physical activity for health and well-being. In connection with the project on languages and Olympic values, this visit gave meaning to the learning by concretely demonstrating how the values of Excellence, Friendship, and Respect are lived out in the world of sports. Finally, this outing fostered the students' curiosity, cultural awareness, and motivation by offering them an enriching experience within a flagship institution of the French Antilles and Guiana.
