FRG26 DC Equality Olympics games careers discovery session

This session was held with 9th-grade students from Collège Maryse Condé as part of a project focused on career guidance and exploring different professions. Through an activity centered on the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games, the students explored 28 careers related to the field of sports using an immersive scenario and an educational quiz. The objective of this session was to help students gain a better understanding of the various professional sectors within sports and to demonstrate that many careers are accessible without being a high-level athlete. This activity also aimed to help students reflect on their future careers by broadening their understanding of the professions and skills required in the world of sports. The session, lasting approximately 25 minutes, was conducted independently, in groups, or as a whole class, depending on the time. The teaching staff supported the students by distributing materials and explaining certain terms as needed. The students then completed the quiz, matching different activities to their corresponding professions. A group review session allowed them to discuss the answers and value their oral participation. This phase encouraged reflection on the skills, roles, and responsibilities of the various professionals involved in the organization and operation of the Olympic and Paralympic Games. This activity also provided an opportunity to address the concepts of equality and equal opportunities in the professional world. The discussions highlighted the importance of combating stereotypes related to gender, disability, or athletic ability, demonstrating that everyone can find their place in sports-related professions. The introduction to the Paralympic Games, in particular, helped raise students' awareness of issues of inclusion, diversity, and respect for all paths.
