GR26 - CAEC - RESPECT - Educational Visit to Acropolis

Students meeting was at Alimos Metro Station, they traveled together to central Athens, gaining firsthand experience of the city’s public transportation system and learning to navigate collaboratively. The visit began at the Acropolis Museum, where students explored a carefully curated collection of artifacts from the Acropolis and its surroundings. They admired sculptures, friezes, and ancient relics, gaining insight into the art, religion, and daily life of ancient Athens. Interactive displays, multimedia presentations, and expert explanations helped students connect the historical objects with the broader cultural and philosophical achievements of ancient Greece. During the museum tour, students reflected on the concepts of beauty, harmony, and excellence in ancient Greek art, discussing how these ideals relate to modern life and the Olympic values. They were particularly fascinated by the detailed craftsmanship of the Parthenon sculptures and learned the stories behind each piece, deepening their appreciation for the creativity and dedication of the ancient world. Dialogue and comparison with their Slovakian friends fostered intercultural understanding and reinforced the value of respect for history and diverse perspectives. After the museum, students walked through the Acropolis Archaeological Site. During the visit to the Acropolis, students explored the Parthenon, the Erechtheion, and the Theater of Dionysus, reflecting on their importance as symbols of democracy, culture, and excellence. Guided by greek students, they examined the architectural achievements and artistic heritage of ancient Greece and discussed how these values inspired the Olympic spirit. A key focus was placed on the value of Respect, both in terms of the ancient world’s dedication to harmony and cooperation and in the students’ role as responsible visitors. Teachers emphasized the importance of preserving cultural landmarks and respecting historical sites.Following the tour, students participated in a reflection session, discussing how the Olympic ideals of Heritage and Respect remain relevant today. They shared insights into the impact of cultural exchange, linking their experience to the broader Erasmus+ themes of unity and shared European heritage.
Students engaged in meaningful discussions, demonstrating a deeper appreciation for cultural heritage and the importance of preserving historical sites. They improved their ability to express ideas in an international setting, enhancing both public speaking and cross-cultural communication skills.
