FRG25 MLC – RESPECT-Ethics-Education for sustainable developm
02 juil. 2025As part of its sustainable development education (SDE) approach, College Maryse Condé organized a presentation of projects carried out throughout the school year, related to local biodiversity and environmental preservation. The event brought together work from classes ranging from kindergarten to 9th grade, highlighting the involvement of the entire educational community. The students presented models, drawings, and research on different themes depending on the grade level. They studied sea turtles, whales, iguanas, butterflies, and melocactus. Educational games were offered to participants. A flagship project of Cycle 3, the ATE involved CM1, CM2, and 6th grade classes in the participatory management of a protected natural area: the Bourg saltworks. The students presented a report on their actions, as well as proposals for the following year. ctivities carried out during artistic workshops were also presented. Ceramics was the medium chosen this year to provide a sensitive vision of the geological environment of Désirade. All the productions were presented in the form of: exhibitions (posters, models, logbooks), interactive stands, video projections, and oral presentations by the students. Guided tours were organized for families and other classes. These sessions on education for sustainable development allowed students to engage in critical thinking: to learn to question the consequences of their actions (consumption, mobility, food) on the environment and others. They also commit to understanding the notions of collective and individual responsibilities: highlighting the notion of shared but differentiated responsibility (individuals, companies, states). They also develop universal values such as solidarity, respect for nature and respect for human dignity.
This presentation helped to promote student learning and engagement while strengthening the school-middle school connection. It generated a great deal of interest from families and partners. Building on this success, the teaching team plans to repeat the project next year, incorporating new themes.
