The teachers took part in a guided tour of the Vazecka cave. Before the visit, a short description of the cave had been made available to the teachers. The tour was in English, so they could enhance their language skills.

The tour began in the entry hall with a sculpture of a prehistoric cave bear. The teachers learned about the natural history of the cave, as well as how it was discovered and made available to public. After that, the teachers had the opportunity to learn about and admire the snow-white flowstone decoration, many stalactites and stalagmites, small lakes and significant palaeontological findings.

The commentary also included many fun facts and nicknames of different formations, the teachers could experience the darkness in which the speleologists were first discovering the caves’ spaces. This helped the visitors to connect with the natural and cultural heritage of this extraordinary cave.

 

The teachers learned about the important place of the Vazecka cave in the natural heritage of the Slovak cave system. The took part in a guided tour and learned about the properties and findings of the cave. They discussed the similarities and differences between the natural heritage of their countries.
