08 nov. 2024
The teachers visited a small guesthouse in the village of Vazec, where they were welcomed by the owners.
After that, they were given a tour of the building with a hundred-year-long history and even though it was rebuilt and refurbished by the owners, the traditional architectural traits and decorations were kept to preserve the cultural heritage and rural atmosphere of the unique region of Liptov. The teachers learned about the history of the place, as well as of the village. They could admire the products of the traditional crafts, like weaving, and the paintings by an academic painter Ondrej Ivan, depicting motives from the lives of the local people.
After the tour, the teachers tasted traditional poppy-seed roll pastry and the selections of the local herbal teas or coffee. They received a gift from the owner of the guesthouse - traditional weaved table mats as a token of the shared cultural heritage.
The teachers learned about the history and cultural and gastronomic heritage of the village of Vazec and its local people, as well as the ways of preserving it.
