The exhibition is based on the stories of young immigrants from the Cremona and Casalmaggiore areas, as publishedin the book For Decent Work. These stories reveal the struggles and suffering of young people living in ourcommunities, often invisible and voiceless, yet filled with strong WISHES for dignity, rights, and citizenship. They allshare the hope for a better future. The evocative images on the 19 panels of the exhibition, accompanied by comments from the young people themselves, provide opportunities for reflection, deeper understanding, and debatefor both young people and adults. Above all, they call for appropriate initiatives at various levels of responsibility to fight the "widespread reality" of labor exploitation, which disproportionately affects foreigners. Illegal recruitment notonly undermines free competition but also excludes other businesses from the market. Most importantly, it violates the workers’ basic human rights, effectively constituting a form of modern slavery. Understanding “caporalato” is essentialfor being aware of our fundamental rights and for being able to identify instances of their violation. Ultimately, it servesas an effective tool in the pursuit of justice.

By reflecting on the problems of illegal workforce recruitment, students developed civic competence skills in analyzingsocial issues and their ethical implications. Students gained a deeper understanding of human rights, labor laws, and social justice, empowering them to recognize violations and advocate for change..Overall, the activity promoted global citizenship and awareness of contemporary challenges.
