FR24BV PSLL Fair Play Mini Olympic Games

The workshop was organized by a PE teacher. Each team included students from SEGPA ( professional education) or from ULIS ( students with disabilities).  Why organise School Olympics?

It has been proved that physical exercise is essential for children's physical and mental health. Exercise also contributes to emotional well-being and socialisation. That's why events like the School Olympics are a great opportunity to promote physical activity and help pupils adopt a healthy, active lifestyle. What's more, organizing a School Olympics taking advantage of the Paris 2024 Olympics helps get pupils excited about sport and nurture the Olympic legacy in the next generation.

The afternoon was divided into 3 moments : an opening ceremony where the students took the Olympic oath and marched in teams with the flags they created in the morning ; the sports events (1 inside the gymnasium, and 3 outside); and the closing ceremony with the medals for each participant.

The children: experienced workshops based on action verbs (running, jumping, throwing, cooperating)

The sports events were:

1- The torch relay: Objective: To run fast as a team. Set-up: A line about 15 m long that each child had to run back and forth with one object to carry per team (symbolizing the flame) as quickly as possible, passing it correctly from the first to the last member of the team.

2- Jumping as far as possible : 3 marked out rivers (0.90 m, 1.20 m, 1.50 m)

3- Throwing: The athletes had to use their skill and strength to throw as far as possible.

4- Crossing a river : the team had 3 chairs (for 5 athletes). The goal was to move forward while remaining standing on the chairs, without ever putting your foot down until you reached the finish line. 

The students had a great time and a lot of fun. They felt the joy of physical exercise, of being part of a team, of collaborating to achieve a goal.  They communicated a lot, showing solidarity, enthusiasm, support, respect and endurance. Photos and videos of this great moment were made.
