FR24BV CC – Joy Preparation of the Mini Olympics

In order to prepare the Mini Olympiads that were to take place in the afternoon, the students were divided into tenteams of six.

The groups were composed of Slovakian and Irish students and their French partners. In addition, 20 pupils withspecial need from the SEGPA (Section d'enseignement Général et Professionnel Adapté) also took part in the workshop.

The students were first asked to reflect on the symbols  and the values of Olympism and imagine a meaningful way of giving an identity to their team. The idea was to be original, while keeping in mind the theme of the Olympic Games and its universality.

Each group was then given a banner made of different colours of fabric, pieces of fabric to create heabands or armbands and feltpens. They  worked on their creation for about one hour, drawing symbols, inventing a name for their group, writing words in different languages.

Some thought of making a sort of rallying cry to 'galvanize the troops' in the afternoon during the Mini Olympic Games. 

All the students took an active part in the activity, whatever their abilities. It was a great opportunity to integrate the students from SEGPA and change people's perception of pupils with learning difficulties.

They had to think of a way of developing coesion and  team spirit, while using their artistic skills and creativity. During the workshop the students communicated a lot, discussed, shared their opinions and sometimes had to makecompromises. An article was published on the project blog.
