SK24 MC Heritage Trip to the High Tatras- non traditional sports
23 janv. 2024
During the hike to Hrebienok, the students got acquainted with nature and hiking in the High Tatras. In Hrebienok, they got to know winter sports and watched a demonstration of the preparation of a ski mountaineer for the race.
They had a tour of the "Westminster Abbey" themed ice house - a royal temple built in the Gothic style, which has been the place of coronation of English kings since 1066.
Together with the mountain porter, we learned about non-traditional winter activities in the High Tatras – a lecture about the work of mountain porters and about the dangers of volunteer porters in difficult mountain conditions. During the hike, we used a mobile app to track the route and measure relevant data about our hike. (km, kcal, elevation, time, etc.)
The students had a very good impression of the trip, because during the day they did not only take a part in various sports activities (mountain hiking), but they also learned new things about non-traditional sports and got to know their differences from traditional Olympic disciplines. They had the opportunity to see the most visited attraction in the High Tatras. During the hike, the students tried sledding, played snowballs, made snowman. They also worked with a mobile application throughout our hiking trip.
