GR24 PSLL - PERFORMANCE – Playing Petanque
13 avr. 2024Petanque is a sport that falls into the category of boules sports. In these sports, players or teams play their boules/balls towards a target ball. It is similar to bocce which first appeared at the Paralympic Games in 1984, allowing athletes with severe disabilities to take part in their national teams
Students gathered at the athletic club of Floisvos, near Alimos.
A teacher of Petanque helped students understand the basic rules of petanque. Students were divided into groups of 6 students and the formed teams of 3 members. They all had the chance to play petanque. Petanque may seem as an easy sport but requires precision and strategy. What our students did not know is that the current form of the game was codified in Provence, France. French students were already familiar with the game and they were very skilled at playing it.
Nevertheless, they all had a lot of fun. The weather was perfect and they after the game they had the chance to have a picnic at the beautiful parc of Floisvos by the sea.
Students have socialized with peers from other countries. Participating in a sport activities are the basis for creating connections between them. They developed strength, balance and coordination skills, concentration, precision and speed. It was a real success. The good weather made the event very pleasant.
