The aims of the activity were manifold: first, study the Olympic symbols, then think of the Olympic values they promote, increase thinking and reasoning abilities, use ICT to create an informative slideshow and finally improve language skills (in English)

To start with,  the group had a brainstorming to define the official Olympic symbols. Then, they were divided into groups and chose a symbol on which to work: the motto, the Olympic rings, the anthem, the charter and the values behind them . They did some research to find their origin, their meaning, their evolution and the values they convey. They each created a digital presentation giving information about the symbol they had selected.

Finally, they presented orally the symbol to the rest of the class.

The students found that activity both interesting and informative. They learnt about the message behind the symbols, why they were chosen and the impact a symbol or motto can have on people, whether in sport or in everyday life.

They improved their ICT and language skills by creating a digital slideshow. It was presented on the school TV in the hall. An article was published on the project blog and the slideshow was also uploaded.
