FR24BV CAE - Universal – Creating a happy Family Game
02 juil. 2024The aims of the activity were to create an educative game giving information about the Olympic and Paralympic Games, take part in a debate, give opinion, work in cooperation on a common final product, use ICT skills to do some research, use creativity to make the layout of the card and improve language skills.
After explaining the aim of the activity and the final product, the students had a debate first to define the different categories of the game. We agreed to create a game with 5 families, each including 6 members.
The five categories were:
-Olympic values and symbols,
-Team sports, individual sports,
-Host cities, countries and continents,
-Historic dates in the Olympic games.
The students started searching for some information about the different categories.
Then, they wrote a short paragraph in French and English, summarizing the most important facts.
After that, they created their happy family cards. On each card they had to insert a picture, a short presentation text in French and in English and a small top banner indicating the list of the other components of the same family, following the same layout and font. Then, the group had a discussion to choose the backside of the deck of cards. They also produced a special card with the rules of the game.
The students were really enthusiastic about that activity. It was a great experience for them to work on a common project, concrete, fun, meaningful, instructive and also useful. They improved their knowledge about the Olympic Games and they used their creative skills to create a deck of cards of which they are very proud and that can be used in the school (a copy is available in the school library), and was also played during the Erasmus+ hosting week in May.
