The workshop takes place during the mobility of 3 Lithuanian students immersed in the 2nd year Erasmus+ class.

First, an exchange takes place with all the students from :

•2 websites :

-http://www.senat.fr/dossier-legislatif/ppl04-090.html which provides a reminder of the laws in European Union countries

-https://www.techno-science.net/glossaire-definition/Euthanasie-page-5.html setting out the definitions, the arguments for and against euthanasia and the penalties for euthanasia.

•2 methodological documents to set the framework and rules for the debate :

-how to debate with others

-the aquarium method, to set the rules for the debate

The class is then divided into 4 groups. Each group researches one of the following topics: 1-European end-of-life legislation 2-Patient consent 3-Types of euthanasia 4-Euthanasia and religion. Next, 4 other groups of students are formed so that each group is made up of students with knowledge of each of the 4 subjects.

Finally, each group imagines a situation in which characters debate the following question : ‘Should active euthanasia be legalized ?‘ One of the students in the group takes on the role of facilitator, and the others have to invent a character for themselves.

Each group presents its role-play to the other students in the class using the ‘aquarium method’: each group debates in the middle of the room, with the rest of the class observing the debaters and reporting back to them at the end on their behaviour during the debate. The exercise is called the aquarium, because the participants in the debate are observed like fish in an aquarium, with the observers and participants alternating roles.
