FRBV25 CAE SHARE Universal Happy Family Game about the Olympics
06 mars 2025The students were divided into groups of 4 (mixed nationalities). They played a game of happy families about the Olymic Games. That game was created by the Erasmus+ students from 4th form during the schoolyear. The different "families" were: the Olympic values and symbols, some dates and events that marked the Olympic Games, some Olympic team sports, some Olympic individual sports, cities and continents that hosted the Oympic games. Each card gave short information in both English and French. The game started, following the rules given at the beginning and explained on a card of the deck. Students exchanged cards with each other in order to complete the entire "family" of one color.
After the game, the students were given 10 minutes to study again the information on their cards. This was followed by a quiz in which the students tested their knowledge gained by studying the information on the cards.
This activity was appreciated by the students because it was both educative and fun. It helped them learn a lot about the different aspects of the Olympic Games. They had to communicate, cooperate and share. Thus, they also improved their foreign language skills and self-confidence. The students who created the game were very happy to see that their work was useful and was taken into consideration. They felt valued.
The decks of cards are now in the school library and remain available to the students in the school and will again be reused in the future during a hosting week
