GR25 CAEC - Democracy - Europe Celebrates

Europe Day held on 9 May every year celebrates peace and unity in Europe. The date marks the anniversary of the historic Schuman declaration. Students of the Erasmus+ program will organize a series of activities to promote the values of the EU.

Since at this date. Greek Schools are closed for holidays, a series of engaging activities were organized at Janiary to help students comprehend the impact of the European Union on education, finance, and our future.

One such activity was a debate titled "How does the EU influence education, finance, and our future?" Additionally, students created posters, leaflets, and infographics aimed at raising awareness about the EU's history and values, which include peace, democracy, and solidarity, as well as the benefits of EU programs like Erasmus+ and Horizon Europe. They also participated in a quiz, a Kahoot (QR Code), and a presentation to further enhance their understanding.

Students shared their projects using hashtags like #EuropeDay #EUValues.

Lastly, we invited Erasmus+ alumni to share their experiences of studying abroad and clarify the EU's role in education on an Open Day.

Students gained a deeper appreciation of how the EU shapes their daily lives, particularly in areas like education, finance, and political stability. Through discussions and creative projects, they developed critical thinking skills on current European issues and the future role of the EU. The debate  also encouraged critical thinking and collaborative problem-solving.

Additionally, they felt more engaged with the European project and were empowered to participate in activities that promote unity and peace within Europe.
