On January 23th, the students had the opportunity to visit the exhibition "Guadeloupe and Sports", loaned by the Departmental Archives of Guadeloupe. This exhibition highlights the history and evolution of sports in Guadeloupe, as well as the role played by local athletes in promoting the archipelago.

Accompanied by their teachers and supervisors, the students explored a series of illustrated panels and archival documents tracing the major stages of sports development in Guadeloupe. They were able to observe photographs of iconic athletes, old newspaper clippings, and objects related to the different sports practiced on the island.

The exhibition emphasizes the importance of sports in Guadeloupean identity and its impact on society, particularly through notable figures such as Marie-José Pérec and Teddy Riner.

The students showed great interest in the testimonies and anecdotes presented. Some were surprised to learn about lesser-known traditional Guadeloupean sports, while others particularly appreciated the references to major international competitions in which Guadeloupean athletes participated.

This visit was an enriching experience for the students, allowing them to better understand the role of sports in Guadeloupean history and culture. It also inspired some of them, strengthening their motivation to engage in their respective sports disciplines.
