Taking part in an Erasmus mobility also means discovering the region wher the partners live. The  students and theirteachers, went by coach to Escalles, near Calais, where the impressive Cap Blanc Nez is situated. We went on a walk along the northernmost cliffs in France. The students were told about the many kinds of rare plants growing in the places where the cliff has collapsed and the birds that nest in the steep faces on the cliffs. They were also made aware of the fragility of the place and the need to protect it. We stopped near the obelisk  of the Dover Patrol Monument, commemorating the Dover Patrol which kept the Channel free from U-boats during World War I.Everyonetried to catch a glimpse of the cliffs of Dover about 35 km away, but the weather conditions were not on our side.

After that bracing walk in the wind and rain, we all went to the nearby historic city of Calais. The sandy beach stretches for several kilometers, as does a long promenade passing by children's play areas and the Olympic-sized Skatepark. We spent some time along the beach and were able to see the famous dragon of Calais, a monumental construction in steel and carved wood, whose  mobility is inspired by the motricity of reptiles.

After that, we all went to the PAarc for some sports activities in relation to the RESpectOl project..

The students discovered the Cap Blanc Nez, a local area of outstanding beauty, also a fragile, protected area, listed as “Natura 2000” by the European Union. The walk was very informative for the students because they could verify their theoretical knowledge of geography, geology and biology. They realized the importance of this place in terms of history.  They shared moments together in Calais, discovering a new way of organizing the waterfront.

The bad weather conditions made things a little difficult, but they all showed commitment and cheerfulness, not far from the values of olympism promoted by the RESpectOl project.
