FRJB25 MSTE PERFORMANCE Mathematics Olympics
08 nov. 2025The pupils were divided into mixed groups, with each team consisting of four pupils.
The Mathematics Olympiad is a competition designed to develop problem-solving skills and stimulate students’ interest in mathematics. It gives participants the chance to discover the beauty of mathematical reasoning and to test their knowledge in a challenging and inspiring way. The topics range from pre-calculus to more advanced areas such as geometry, number theory, and functional equations. The problems are designed to be understood by anyone with a basic knowledge of mathematics but require creativity, logic, and perseverance to solve. The highest-scoring participants are rewarded with medals and certificates recognizing their performance and commitment.
After choosing their team name, the pupils had to solve a series of four puzzles and mathematical activities within a set time limit.
They had 15 minutes to learn the rules of each activity and then find the solutions.
The aim was for them to learn the rules of the activity on their own and work as independently as possible.
At the end of each round, they were awarded a certain number of points based on their answers.
The maths activities covered a wide range of topics:
- the first involved reconstructing a spatial structure using cubes and different views,
and the last activity involved running a programme and introducing them to different loops in algorithmics.
The pupils were able to help each other understand and work together to solve the problems posed. The Olympiad helps students enhance their mathematical potential and gain motivation for future learning. It promotes academic excellence, teamwork, and intellectual curiosity, all key values within the Erasmus+ spirit of growth and cooperation. They were very enthusiastic and committed to this activity, eager to score as many points as possible. They rose to the challenge by demonstrating team spirit, inventiveness and determination.
