After studying a modern French play written by Jean-Luc Lagarce in French lessons, which depicts a conflict between two brothers and the difficulty of communication between the members of a family (Juste la fin du monde, written in Berlin in 1990), the students are asked to choose a play on the topic of personal crises and family crises, which illustrates the "fraternity" value of the RESPectOl project.

First, they read the play they have chosen independently, with the instruction to ask themselves as they read about the links between brothers and sisters in the play, or between characters who have fraternal relationships.

Secondly, the students produce an audio in French in which they research the author of the play, the historical/literary context in which it was written and how it was received by the public. Then they present the play itself (its genre, a summary of the plot and portraits of the characters). Finally, they show how their play illustrates the topic of personal and family crises by quoting and commenting on representative extracts from the play.

Lastly, they are asked to produce an audio in English organised in three parts : after giving a brief presentation of their play and linking it to the value of fraternity, they analyse in each of the 3 parts of their audio :

-either the links between 3 pairs of brother and sister characters or characters who have fraternal relationships

-or from 2 brother and sister characters or characters who have fraternal relationships : the evolution of their relationships as the play progresses.

From a play they have chosen themselves, which is more motivating for them, the students analyze and then compare by listening to each other's audios, the variety of the links between brothers and sisters as they are represented in the theatrical genre. Making an audio in their mother tongue before creating another in a foreign language allows them to become familiar with the topic of fraternity and to master their play well before producing an English text.
