MSTE Performance My body how does it work?
01 juil. 2024First of all, in PE, the students measured their own breathing and heart rates before and after exercising. These statistics and observations served as a basis for the biology teacher.
Then in biology class, the students analysed these rhythm variations to understand them.
Through document analysis, students deduced that the breathing rate increases so that more oxygen passes into the bloodstream and the heart rate increases so that the bloodstream delivers more nutrients and oxygen to the working muscles during the activity.
To go further in analysis, the students studied the heart function and blood circulation/ For that purpose, they carried out some experiments in class on poultry's hearts.
This was followed by the study of digestion i.e. the transformation of food into nutrients and passage into the bloodstream. They experimented digestion in test tubes (digestion of egg white with pepsin)
The third stage was the respiratory system. The students examined a pig-heart lung unit and
carried out experiments to demonstrate the functioning of the lungs.
Finally, they drew posters of human bodies representing the circulatory system, the digestive track, and the respiratory system.
The students acquired an in-depth understanding of how their own body works, in order to optimise their physical performance.
