CAE - LIBERTY - Show A world of dreams

After reading and analysing Eric Beauvillain's script “A world of dreams ?” and deciding on the roles and lines, the students take part in 3 workshops with an actor : Rachid Bouali.

At the start of each workshop, they rehearse their scenes in groups and then the actor organises an Italian-style rehearsal. After that, they work on and rehearse the following in particular :

-Body expression: forming the chorus, disarticulating the body, mirroring with a partner

-Their voice: the tone, volume and delivery they need to adopt for each performance

-Setting the scene from one scene to the next

-Their movements and body language

-Their lines, using the soundtrack as a guide

The scenes are as follows:

-Scene 1 : interview with a sociologist about population surveillance

-Scene 2: a queue at a ticket office, an argument between a counter clerk and a customer

-Scene 3: four female moaners modelling those in the queue

-Scene 4: a policeman explains the dispute between the counter clerk and the customer to his chief

-Scene 5: a hairdresser and two customers discuss the argument they heard on the radio

-Scene 6: a journalist interviews a witness to the dispute in the street

-Scene 7: a crowd walks around a harangue-speaker who gives a speech about the need to oppose the surveillance of the population to defend freedom

-Scene 8: family scene where a young man explains that he wants to join the haranguer's opposition group

A dress rehearsal takes place on the Bateau Feu stage, where they will perform their final show.

The students join the 2nd year pupils from the RESpectOl partner school at the Bateau Feu to present their respective shows to their families and friends. The show reflects the values of the Erasmus+ class : a class united around a common project, reading a literary text through the prism of everyday life and current events, defending human values, an approach to culture that mixes registers and forms of expression and challenges stereotypes.
